The hubs and I visited the Blue Olive Restaurant and Wine Bar for lunch one day while shopping in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia. I had read about it in a travel guide, so when we happened upon the restaurant while deciding where to do lunch, it was a no-brainer! We didn’t need reservations since it was the low season. (October – May is considered the high season.)
The Blue Olive dishes out food that is a fusion of french/creole and Caribbean and Chef Xavier is also chef at the Coal Pot Restaurant, another very popular place to eat in St. Lucia.
The restaurant is open air, typical of most island eateries, but does have one section that is air-conditioned. The vibe is casual chic and I fell in love with the centerpieces.
I had the Baked Goat Cheese with honey and rosemary accompanied by a crisp green salad sprinkled with walnuts, dried cranberries, apples and basil oil. And let me tell you, it was quite tasty! The hubs had the grilled kingfish with creole sauce, rice and veggies. Here’s a picture of my very large salad!
My husband’s entrée selection included either an appetizer or dessert. And since we were on vacation, I talked him into a dessert. We split (well, maybe I ate a tad more than he did) the passion fruit pie with raspberry coulis and ice cream. Words can’t describe how good it was!
And every morsel I put in my mouth was delicious. We continued shopping to walk off some of the calories from our scrumptious lunch.
I highly recommend the Blue Olive by Chef Xavier!
Helpful Hint: When dining out in St. Lucia or other Caribbean islands, remember that you are on island time! I constantly read reviews of how slow the service was, etc. Duh?! We have become acclimated to instant everything! Personally, I love taking my time to eat and to enjoy the atmosphere and the great food! Relax! You’re on vacation!
UPDATE
When my husband and I visited St. Lucia in 2019, we were saddened to learn that the Blue Olive has permanently closed.

I just adore St. Lucia!!! I have been there once and the whole island time thing is so true, but I kinda liked how laid back everything was! Sometimes here we go a hundred miles a minute and life seems so hectic!! Now your salad has truly made me hungry for lunch!!
I know! I’m hungry, too! I loved St. Lucia, too and I love the laid back feeling while on vacay!
The food pallet looks so artistic that I wouldn’t even want to touch it. What a wonderful restaurant!
This looks absolutely delicious! Thank you for the tips on St. Lucia! My husband and I are deciding on where to go for our anniversary next year and this is great info!
Great point about Island time! I really wish we weren’t use to instant everything. Life is so much better when we take the time to enjoy it.
Totally agree!
Baked goat cheese and honey?! Sounds like heaven. And it looks light too!

We did! We came back refreshed and relaxed.
Yummy! Yummy in my tummy 🙂
I’ve never been to St. Lucia. Your photos on FB and here has sparked an interest. You’re right, other cultures truly enjoy the dining experience. “We” are instant and right now. 🙂
We loved the island, the people and the food! We normally go to a different island each summer, but I definitely want to go back to St. Lucia someday.
