This week’s hit or miss will not add one ounce of fat. Â I promise! Â But, just in case you missed last week’s Chocolate Graham Pancakes, you can find them here!
I was amazed at the chill in the air on Monday and Tuesday, especially after 100 degree temps last week! Â And even though we know the heat and humidity will stick around for a while, I did get in the mood to make something fallish. Â Is that a word? Â I’m always making up new words.
I’ve had my eye on a fall moss wreath project for a while. Â I like the simplicity, the clean lines, the earthiness and the fact that the moss was free. Â Yes, I found lots of moss right down the street from my house. Â It was like picking up pine cones. Â The moss didn’t feel like it was attached to anything. Â If you don’t have access to free moss, you can buy it at craft stores.
The inspiration for my fall moss wreath came while browsing Pinterest. Â I didn’t really use a tutorial, but you can search Pinterest and find any style moss wreath your little heart desires.
I’m in love with the two types of ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby.
All you need is a foam wreath, your hot glue gun, moss and ribbon.  I did have to pull a few pine needles out of the moss, but other than that, I was good to go.  Just pretend you’re doing a jigsaw puzzle with the moss, using big pieces, small pieces and filling in the little holes on the foam wreath, glueing it as you go. Make sure you cover all sides (except the back, of course). Attach the ribbon and you’re done.  Now wasn’t that easy?
Helpful Hint: Â Did you know that glueing can be spelled two different ways? Â Yep, glueing and gluing! Â Both ways are correct!
If you like a more colorful fall wreath, here’s my fall burlap wreath that I made last year!
My Thanksgiving tablescape will coordinate with my fall moss wreath. Â Afterwards, I’ll give it a little bling, change out the ribbon and make a beautiful Christmas wreath. Â Of course I’ll invite you over to see it.
What fall projects do you have in the works?

Your Moss Wreath turned out very nice. It’s a Hit, just like the chocolate pancakes! I’m looking forward to the Thanksgiving Tablescape (are we really talking about Thanksgiving now!, this year is traveling on).
I’m also looking forward to your Christmas twist on the Moss wreath. Please be sure to come on over and share with us at this weeks Home Matters Linky!
It took me a while, well, truthfully, I’m still getting adjusted to how far in advance bloggers have to post for holidays, etc. So, while it’s still very much summertime, I’m all into Thanksgiving and fall related things. 🙂
I love the outdoorsy look of it! Very pretty. I really need to make a new wreath this year!
I think I have last year’s wreath stashed somewhere, but with all that free moss, I couldn’t resist making a new one. I’ve got some other ideas for the moss, too. 🙂
What a beautiful way to welcome the fall. Blessings, Catherine
Thanks, Catherine! It’s been feeling like fall in SC!
Everything you created looks great! Now bring on the Fall!! It’s a hit for me!
You’re too kind, Louida! I’m heading over to read your post. I’ve never pitched to a brand before. I’ve always waited for them to come to me. I’m about to learn some good stuff!
This looks fabulous! I love the outdoorsy look for fall!
Thanks, Paris! Great party! Thanks for co-hosting.
I LOVE how you are planning on making this one wreath work for 3 different seasons/holidays! Great idea!
I’m a little lazy and frugal that way! 🙂
The wreath looks fabulous. I am currently working on a wreath myself for the front door for the fall.
Looking forward to seeing your wreath!
Very nice simple wreath. I love Fall… everything from back-to-school to Halloween to Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is my favorite part of fall!
I just love working with moss 🙂 This is so pretty! It’s been a wonderful Summer, but I’m happy to see Fall on its way.
Moss is easy to work with. It has been a great summer, but it just seemed to fly by to me. I do love all four seasons!
Your wreath turned out so pretty! I love that you were able to find free moss to make it with too. Nice bonus that you don’t have to spend money on supplies! I also really like your red door. I hope our next home has a red door too. 🙂
Thanks, Kate! My favorite color is red! 🙂
I love this! I’ve been wanting to do a project with moss for a while. Have you noticed it getting messy or anything? My husband is worried if I make anything inside that it’ll get all over the place!
Actually, it held together really good. I removed all of the pine straw from the moss while I was outside. Then I placed the moss in a plastic shopping bad and placed it in the kitchen sink while I glued. I did have to sweep up a little dirt and debris that fell to the floor while I was hot gluing, but other than that, it was fine. And so far it’s held up great on the front door.
I like that, Alli! So simple and yet so elegant! My projects for Fall: I hope to be able to try at least one new “fall” recipe each week for the entire season! (Of course, 10 days after Fall starts, my busiest time of the year when it comes to photography starts, too! LOL So we’ll see how it goes!)
One of the reasons I started Hit or Miss Wednesday was because I had so many projects and recipes that I wanted to try, yet never got around to trying them. Hit or Miss forces me to actually try something new. 🙂
Love this! This is great, the simplicity but dramatic impact is perfect!
The wreath turned out so pretty! My door is blank right now. Maybe I’ll give this a try.
Mine was blank, too, Heidi! And I just wanted something simple for fall and this really is easy to do.
Thanks for coming and linking up at #The Weekend Social. Please be sure to come back next week starting Thursdays at 9PM EST The Midnight Baker ! I hope to see you there!

I still think this is such a simple and elegant idea! Thanks so much for coming by and linking up at the #homematters Link Up Party! We hope to see you again this coming Wednesday 🙂
Beautiful. I love moss. I can’t wait to see what you will surprise us with for Christmas! Ahh! It is all happening so quickly!
