Bona Keep It Clean Personality Quiz

by Alli

Spring cleaning is just around the corner. Are you excited?  I actually have friends that love to clean but  I didn’t get the I-love-to-clean-more-than-anything-else-in-the-world gene.

I recently took the Bona Keep It Clean Personality Quiz and found out that my cleaning personality is a multitasker.  I’m always trying to do it all.  I talked my husband into taking the quiz and his cleaning personality is a social butterfly.  That quiz is spot on!

I bet you’ve read a gazillion tips on spring cleaning, right? And some of them are not practical at all.  The only tips I want to hear are ways to make the cleaning process easier so that I can be outdoors enjoying the spring sunshine.

Spring Cleaning Tips - Get rid of cobwebs

Here are my practical tips:

1.  Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I’m a finisher.  The thought of leaving something undone almost puts me over the edge.  I had to learn to pace myself and not try to do all the spring cleaning in one day.  Talk about exhausting!  I now tackle one room a day and sometimes skip a day in between so I won’t get burned out on deep cleaning.

2.  Stay Focused

Because my cleaning personality is a multitasker, I have a tendency to do 5 things at once.  It’s easy to get distracted while cleaning and find myself tidying an entirely different room. Setting a timer keeps me focused on the task at hand. Playing music lightens my mood and encourages me to sing at the top of my lungs (not a pretty sight).

3.  Keep Cleaning Tools at Hand

Nothing bothers me more than needing a cleaning product that’s under the kitchen sink while cleaning the bathroom.  Retracing steps takes up a lot of time and is another distraction.  I always grab a couple of trash bags so I can declutter as I go.  One is for items to donate and one for trash.

Bona-Keep-It-Clean-Personality-Quiz

It’s best to keep bathroom cleaning supplies in the bathroom.  Don’t forget to keep all cleaning supplies out of the reach of children.

4.  Clean the Floors Last

Cleaning from the top to the bottom ensures a clean house and no do-overs.  I save the hardwood floors for last and can always count on my Bona hardwood mop and cleaning products to keep my floors healthy and clean.  Healthy?  Yep!  Bona cleaning products are ph neutral, non-toxic, 3rd party GREENGUARD certified and they leave no residue behind.

Speaking of Bona here’s before and after shots of a birthday party this past weekend at my daughter’s historic Dutch Colonial home. The hardwood floors are original to the home (built in the 1800’s) and have plenty of character. Bona is the only cleaning product my daughter trusts to care for these beautiful, old floors.  I taught her well. 🙂

Spring Cleaning with Bona

Floors that Sparkle and Shine

My other daughter recently had hardwood floors installed throughout her house and was instructed to use Bona cleaning products exclusively. Vinegar, water and other products can dull hardwood floors over time.

5.  Congrats!

Your house is squeaky clean!  Now you can go party like it’s your birthday.  Just don’t mess up the house.

Before you go, don’t forget to take the fun cleaning personality quiz AND enter to win a grand prize trip for 4 to Hawaii.  You can also instantly find out if you’ve won a Bona hardwood floor mop.  Let me know if you win!

My cleaning personality seems to be social butterfly? What on earth does THAT mean? LOL

You’re too busy being the belle of the ball to think about cleaning. 🙂 You’re the popular girl.

My cleaning personality was social butterfly too. Guess that means I only like to clean when we’re having company over. lol It would be great to win the trip to Hawaii!!

That trip to Hawaii would be great! Fingers crossed for you!

I did not take the quiz because I have a fully carpeted apartment and that wasn’t listed! I can tell you that I agree with Scarlett O’Hara on this one –Tomorrow is another Day–I’ll think about it tomorrow! When I do clean I clean as quickly as I can so I don’t think about it!

I hope you skipped the quiz and entered the trip to Hawaii. 🙂 You can enter daily. I like to clean and get it over with, too. I totally agree with Scarlett!

The quiz says I’m a social butterfly which apparently means I clean when company is coming because I’m generally too busy otherwise. Momma did teach us to spruce up the house when company is coming but that usually meant a mini-spring cleaning by Momma’s standards! I have adapted her philosophy. I am ADD and keep lots of things going on at one time. Eventually, I will finish them but have began more things by then. To keep from driving my own self crazy, I do some housework every day. It’s just the 2 of us so we don’t make too big of a mess…most of the time.

I’ve been known to clean out all the closets when I’m having company over for dinner. When my house needs a good, deep cleaning I start thinking of who I can invite over so I’ll be motivated.

I am such a social butterfly cleaner! It is so hard for me not to multitask on 5 different projects at once.

Have a wonderful week, Alli!

You’re like my husband. He’s a social butterfly (can you call a man that?) in life, too. He knows everyone. I always tell him that he reminds me of a politician. Have a great week, Ashley!

I have a small addiction problem to buying household cleaning supplies! This is going on my list for when I’m in America! I’m with you on number one – I always always feel like I have to finish what I’ve started and will clean for hours sometimes!

I’m so bad about that. Years ago my mom taught me to cross stitch. I had to give it up because I couldn’t go to bed without finishing the project. 🙂

The Bona looks great! DO you have to use their refills or is there an option to use your own? I have a Shark and use it daily, but I’ve recently decided to invest in a second vacuum and mop for upstairs because, yes, I am that lazy that the thought of dragging them both up the stairs has stopped me more than once lol!

I am like you and tens to want to do it all at once…..I took the quiz and found out I am a Perfectionist. Well, I guess in many ways – cannot stand a messy place!

No – I did not win a mop: the description of your daughter’s home sounds wonderful!

Thanks for entering, Zan! You can enter once daily, so it’s not to late. 🙂

My mom always taught me to clean the floors after the guests leave or else they will have to be cleaned twice. I normally sweep/vacuum before, but I wait to mop after they leave. haha

Alli March 2, 2015 - 10:03 am

Me, too! I do the same thing. Why mop before they get there? It will need to be done all over again. You have a very smart mom!

I am a VERY SLOW cleaner. It drives my husband nuts at times because I become fixated on the areas I am cleaning and never get much accomplished in the time I have alotted.

Kim March 2, 2015 - 9:50 am

So my cleaning personality was perfectionist. I am so not surprised… that is why it takes me so long…lol

A trip for 4 to Hawaii? Now that’s a grand prize! It’s funny because I HATED cleaning as a kid. It was always my older sister how did most of the chores with a smile. Now it’s opposite! I LOVE to clean and am an organize freak, while she hate’s tiding up <3

My sister is still the one that loves to clean. I had rather be outdoors tending to my flowers or veggies.

Not sure if my house ever is squeaky clean, well after a move I suppose. I am not good at tackling big projects like spring cleaning the house. I do bits and pieces all year round. Sure, it is not like a real spring clean, but works for us.

I use Bona to cean the hardwood floors throughout my entire house. It works wonders, we’re really pleased with it.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. That’s true, but hard for me to remember. I get so frustrated when I can’t get everything done in one day! Especially where cleaning is concerned!

I can get distracted with too many cleaning tasks if I don’t plan it out. I really need to focus on a single thing at one time to be efficient.

I too was not gifted the gene of spring cleaning, I mean I love to clean like the next person but mine comes after it being the last resort or i can not afford to buy new plates or clothes anymore or i cant really see the floor lol.

I am a person who is a cleaner! I start my day cleaning and end my day picking up! I can’t stand for the house to be a mess – I just can’t relax. I don’t clean the whole house at one time though. I always work on one chore a day. It seems to work for me. I love your tips an dwell incorporate some of them to my routine!

I’m a multitasker for sure. If I don’t stay focused, I’ll end up in a completely different room and end up not completing anything.

I always seem to multitask when I clean… I start on the dishes then notice the bench top is messy which is then followed by washing the clothes before finally getting back to the dishes, what a relatable post – thanks for sharing.

I was one of those people that got the “I-love-to-clean-more-than-anything-else-in-the-world” genes. Well, almost anything. I don’t like cleaning the kitchen lol! I definitely agree with all of your practical tips, though. Great article.

Bona is my all time favorite tool to keep the hardwood floors clean. I used be a “clean-o-holic” until I realized it is ok to have a little mess here and there.. and it is not that bad to clean afterwards! I prefer blogging now 🙂

Reply
Alli March 4, 2015 - 11:16 am

I prefer blogging and my house shows it, too. It was once spotless. I doubt anyone will engrave my tombstone with “she had a spotless house” anyway, so I eased up a bit. 🙂

I got the “social butterfly” cleaner. It’s pretty true. We tend to clean before people come over. Thank goodness it’s been happening a lot more lately, otherwise our place would be a mess! 😉 Great tips. I’m a perfectionist, so it’s hard to clean quickly for me.
